Unraveling the Truth Behind Insulin Resistance: Dr. John on ‘The Best You’ Podcast

This week, I am sharing an article which delves into the inconsistencies surrounding the concept of insulin resistance. In the article, I discuss how insulin resistance is often misunderstood as the primary cause of Type 2 diabetes and unpack the biological mechanisms behind blood sugar and insulin regulation. The concept of insulin resistance was accepted as the basis of Type 2 diabetes without the customary step of scientific validation of a hypothesis before acceptance as fact. Endocrinologists, pharmaceutical companies, and glucose monitor manufacturers actively promoted the concept to the point of being associated with not only Type 2 diabetes but also several other medical conditions without showing a mechanism. 

The Inconsistencies

  • Endocrinologists have no explanation as to why the body resists insulin. 
  • It is illogical that millions of people around the world are evolving to have insulin resistance.
  • It is not logical that only three types of cells develop insulin resistance.
  • The way insulin resistance affects cells is inconsistent.
  • If cells cannot metabolize glucose, body temperature can’t be maintained. This is not happening when you have Type 2 diabetes.
  • Similarly, there is no loss of muscle strength in Type 2 diabetes
  • There is no evidence of any agents that block the action of insulin.
  • Short-term diabetes in pregnant women is strong proof against the insulin resistance theory.

It is time to demand that endocrinologists validate or abandon the concept of insulin resistance as the cause of Type 2 diabetes.
