Medical News Today reported in November 2018 that “the effects of fructose on human health has been the source of much controversy. This is due to the fact that there are different kinds of fructose in foods, some of which are bad for health.”
The report stated that fructose can lead to obesity type 2 diabetes and other complications, and some experts suggest fructose is directly responsible for storage of fat.
Others link fructose to insulin resistance and development of type 2 diabetes, yet others link fructose to development of cancer. But no direct explanation or linkage or mechanism has been shown between fructose and development of type II diabetes or cancer.

Fructose is a sugar, along with glucose, these two are single molecule sugars when they are connected to each other it forms sucrose which is the table sugar that we commonly use. Fructose is sweeter than glucose or sucrose. You can make fructose by modifying the glucose in cornstarch using enzymes. When the level of fructose increases to 55%, similar to what is naturally present in honey, that preparation is called high fructose corn syrup.
Because fructose is sweeter, the high fructose corn syrup is added to beverages and other processed foods to increase enjoyment of eating them. And this is what makes people consume more fructose or fructose containing foods. It is not fructose by itself that causes health problems. It is the increased intake promoted by fructose addition to that food.
So, if you want to control obesity or your weight, if you want to prevent or reduce your blood sugar level, or if you don’t want to promote cancer in your body, reduce beverages and processed foods containing fructose or high fructose corn syrup. If you like this information please please share it to anybody who may be drinking beverages or eating foods containing high fructose corn syrup.
